Disney again (2008)

How did we happen to be in Disney for the second time in one year...??? Because we have grandchildren. May 2008...with DJr, C. and V.

At my son's insistence, we arrived at Magic Kingdom one hour before it even opened. We watched Mickey arrive on the train. That was the start of a long....long magical day. We had lunch with all the Princesses; Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Belle... The little girls had smiles on their faces, stars in their eyes....but little food in their bellies. C. tolerated the Princesses, but his eyes lit up when we rode the raft to Tom Sawyer's island. Oh my, he ran from area to area looking out the windows and shooting the fake guns. He said, "This is the coolest thing I've ever seen." It was so fun to see him so excited.

Rides, food, walking, sights everywhere.... And at the end of the day, as only Disney can do it.... FIREWORKS. V. was on her Daddy's shoulders watching and had the dreamiest look on her face. Her eyes glistened with each new firework. I couldn't stop taking pictures of her.... she was in her own world .... Disney Magic, DJr calls it. C....how can you sleep through this beautiful and NOISY show???? It was a long magical day. I am so grateful to be able to enjoy time with my family.

Thank you Lord.

The Little Red Car

C. was almost two. We were babysitting him for the day. I can still remember that day. We played with the hose, played in Poppy's truck, took a walk. The walk is when we discovered the red car. C. pointed and was very excited at something he saw. I followed him to the red car that was barely visible in my neighbors yard among a pile of wood. The neighbors son was obviously not using this car any more, so we knocked on the door and asked if we could borrow it. We were told to keep it. What a treasure. C. played with it for the rest of the day. As he got older, I would "send him to the store for sugar, coffee...." in the little red car. It kept him busy for hours.

Then K. came along - she enjoyed it too.

Her favorite thing was opening and shutting the door and getting in and out.

Now number three.... V.

Of course she loved the car too as did T. (number 4)

Last month D. played with the car all afternoon.

Wow. A little walk on a fall day with C., a generous neighbor.... a pile of memories with all the grandchildren and the little red car.

Singing Hymns

I thought they were asleep, but I heard their voices in the monitor. I went upstairs and reminded K. and T. that when Mom and Dad arrived home they would check in on them. Back downstairs.... in the monitor I hear quiet crying.... louder crying... very loud crying.

Upstairs again, I try to convince them that everything is fine... talking is not getting me anywhere.... Hmmm.... "Jesus Loves Me this I know...." When I finished that song they were quiet, still awake but quiet. So I sang more.... "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus in the morning, Jesus in the noon time.....Jesus, Jesus, Jesus when the sun goes down."

They are still awake, but relaxing.... I continued. "Great is thy faithfulness, Oh God my Father. There is no shadow of turning with Thee. Thou changest not thy compassion it fails not, as thou has been thou forever will be." One more ...."Then sings my soul, My Saviour God to thee.... How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art".

I love the old hymns. Thank you Lord for the opportunity to sing the girls to sleep with wonderful hymns that tell of your greatness. They are asleep and I enjoyed singing to them....worshipping.
