New Housecoats

My daughter and her family are living at my house while their house is on the market. For some reason they think they can't keep it clean enough to show at a moment's notice with a 5, 3, and 1 year old. So, my hubby and I get to enjoy time with our grandchildren daily for a little while.

Our house is cold. We like it that way. In the morning K (5) and T (3) come down and wrap in blankets because it is so cold. I come down in my fleece housecoat and am very warm. So Saturday, I told the girls we would go to Target and I would buy them a housecoat so they would be warm like me. First thing...they both laughed and said "housecoat...hahaha, you don't wear a coat in the house". Oh sorry, I mean bathrobe. That's what their mother calls it. (She puts hers on after a bath, I wear mine in the morning when I come down to my cold kitchen-hence the difference in terms) After breakfast we went to Target where bathrobes are apparently seasonal; so there was none.

Today we went to the mall. M. needed to go to Nordstrom for something that only they sell. While she was busy searching and buying, I decided that I would help by keeping the girls busy. "Let's go to the kid's section and see if they have bathrobes". Oh my...they did. They were soft and warm and beautiful girl colors. So, each of them walked out of Nordstrom with a new bathrobe in their own bag. They carried them all through the mall and when we were ready to leave, they put them on instead of their coats. We walked through the last store with the beautiful new bathrobes on. Other women smiled ....commented on how cute they looked - so Eastery...purple and teal.

What a day....the beautiful, soft robes are in bed with two sleepy little girls right now....ready to put on first thing in the morning.

You know you are 50 something when a robe becomes a housecoat.

You know you are a fun grandma when Norstrom becomes an acceptable place to buy them for a 5 adn 3 year old :)

The girls are lucky to have you!
